Pennine Way and St Cuthbert’s Routes
The Border Hotel is the welcome finish line for walkers completing the finest Upland walking in England and the Scottish Borders. The Pennine Way is 268 miles long. It was the very first National Trail, opened on 24th April 1965, and remains one of the most famous.
Walkers arriving at The Border Hotel are offered a free half pint of beer and receive a certificate to say that they’re completed the Pennine Way.
St Cuthbert’s way
Walking between Scotland and England follow in the footsteps of St Cuthbert who travelled this route in 650AD. Walk the 100km (62.5 miles) from Melrose in the Scottish Borders where St Cuthbert started his religious life to Holy Island off the Northumberland coast and his eventual resting place.
The walk passes through Kirk Yetholm so giving walkers an opportunity to rest or refresh themselves at the Border Hotel before their next stage.
